Barry Lyndon (1975)

Just gotta love Stanley Kubrick

I have liked every Kubrick film that I've seen so far and I intend to see all his films. He's truly an amazing artist and he's greatly missed. All the Kubrick films I've seen so far have been completely different too, although they all have some typical "Kubrickal" elements.

The plot in Barry Lyndon was not very interesting at all. I think that's just one of Kubricks peculiarities: the film can be very good even if the plot isn't. Even though the plot was nothing special some of the scenes were just amazing. Sometimes there would be long scenes with nothing at all happening, but you still kept watching anyway without being bored. That's how Kubrick works his magic: he creates visually amazing masterpieces and adds awesome music to carry on the story and what else do you need? Due to his background as a photographer his films are usually really photogenic and that's why you keep watching even if nothing is happening.

Definitely 3 hours of my life well spent!
