Mamma Mia! Reviews
My rating of Mamma Mia!:

Here we go again
I usually like musicals but found this one a little out of place. Maybe it has something to do with the songs - they're all Abba songs, after all, and not created specifically for the musical. So the musical is made out of a limited amount of material and, in my opinion, it shows in a couple of places.
Mamma Mia! is still very enjoyable, light-hearted and lovable movie with a very good cast of actors. Especially Meryl Streep deserves a special mention playing an aging woman with passion. A singing Pierce Brosnan was a bit weird sight for me, but I guess it was alright. The younger actors played just as well, if not better, as the more experienced parts of the cast.
So what's this movie about? It tells a story of a hotel-running mother and a soon-to-be-married daughter living without a father in Greek. The daugher wants to figure who she is before getting married and invites three father candidates to the wedding for her mother's bewilderment. Surprises and misunderstandings follow each other and nothing seems to turn out just the way it should.
Ultimately, the message of the movie, at least for me, was that a lot can happen in life and despite that we can have a positive mind-set about it all. It tells about the importance of friends, love and dreams - for everyone no matter the age. It is a very positive and life-affirming movie and, because of that, very enjoyable.
There are some shameless content and comments, mostly sex-related, in the movie so it's a parents decision if this should be regarded as a movie for the whole family. I will recommend this positive movie for mostly anyone, especially for those who like Abba!
