This was a snoozer for me. Interesting to see the reactions of real folks but they were dry...not the best fodder for a film. Dialogue was forced, characters were hard to love. I'll forget this very soon, I'm sure.
Interesting movie. Made me think of social isolation and the toll it can take.
The real way that people were reacting to being fired (aside from being ACTUAL people who were fired) was powerful. I felt like crying for their frustration. George Clooney was very good as was the other actors and 'real' people. It is a staple movie of 2009 and best represents this hard year for those who lost their jobs and felt they have lost their way.
this wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't great either. more for the older audience
A romantic comedy with some unexpected twists and turns. Still, it's just another romantic comedy.

Thoughtfully written and wonderfully acted. The characters were very real and the depiction of the firing process in today's economy was brilliant. Bahsing business is easy (which is why it appeals to the lazy and self-indulgent Michael Moore) but seeing and hearing the reactions of the people effected was very powerful. Meanwhile George Clooney continues to amaze me as he easily goes from Michael Clayton to Burn After Reading to that stupid Goat flick to this film. He has Cary Grant grace and Tom Hanks likability making him in my view one of the best of our generation.
My rating of Up in the Air:
Actually a really touching film. Clooney was great, but the ending wasn't perfect for my taste.. but I guess it fits the movie.
