A dark, haunted vision of Wonderland is well-realized by Burton. It maintains vision and creativity roughly 2/3 of the way through, then oddly becomes just another fantasy battle that belongs in a lesser film. See it in 2D; as usual, the 3D treatment is headache-inducing.

Oddly off, yet somehow visually alright. Strange. Not bad but not... good

Boring and utterly lifeless. What else is new with Tim Burton.

I liked it. I wanted it to never end. Great characters.

Not bad overall, but the plot ruins it.

Solid, yet unremarkable Tim Burton

I've been a big fan of Tim Burton's early work like Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. There was something simplistically odd and touching about them. His later films are stylistically impressive, but are devoid of genuine emotion. Alice is a standard story of a girl finding her voice and confidence. Our connection with that potentially touching storyline are kept at bay by the over the top and stiff acting; Johnny Depp isn't given enough time to develop his character and comes across as a one liner.

Meh

It wasn't fantastic. Honestly, the original Disney version was better. Tim Burton tried too hard to make it a kids movie but at the same time make it as creepy as the rest of his movies. It was an awkward mix. The cinematography was brilliant and beautiful. If you see it definitely see it in 3D because its so much better that way.

Johnny Depp some how combined around three accents into the character of the Hatter, which makes sense, as the Hatter is in fact Mad, but it got to be a little confusing.

The rest of the plot was just as awkward. The arc didn't complete itself and it was only a thinly veiled attempt at describing teenage angst from the late Victorian era.

In other words, its worth seeing in theatres in 3D but I'm not how good it would be on DVD after the fact.sure
