Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene in the 4th installment of the Underworld series. Aftr being in a cryogenic state for 12 years, Selene awakens to find out that humans have been hunting both Lycans and Vampires alike to the point of extinction. She also finds out that she has a daughter that is a Lycan-Vampire hybrid. What ensues is the normal stuff in the films lots of shooting and nice scenes of Beckinsale running around in leather. I'm not sure how much more in the tank this series has, but I have to admit, the films are enjoyable and if they go back to the well one more time, I'm sure they could come up with something worthwhile to view.

I am a big fan of the Underworld series and Awakening doesn’t disappoint. This time Lycans and Vampires must deal with the human race hunting them down to try and bring extinction to both races. The action is heavy and ultraviolent, a perfect fit for this type of movie which has suffered from too much teenybopper slop in recent years. My only complaint was that at just under 90 minutes, Awakening felt a little rushed.
